Behind the Scenes in Film Production: Lessons from the Set of Laal Singh Chaddha
Yash Mehta | Film Producer & Production Professional
Film production is often recognized for its actors, directors, and box office achievements, but much of the work that brings a film to life happens quietly behind the scenes. My experience in production and production management has taught me that the operational backbone of filmmaking is just as critical as the creative vision.
Working on Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) offered firsthand insight into how complex film sets are organized. Production management roles involve coordinating multiple departments, managing schedules, and ensuring that logistical challenges do not interrupt creative workflows. Every decision on the set, from equipment placement to scene timing, impacts the efficiency of the entire production.
Collaboration is at the heart of production work. Film sets bring together diverse professionals, from cinematographers to art directors, whose combined efforts deliver the final product. My role in production coordination required clear communication, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving to support both creative and operational needs.
This experience has shaped how I approach professional challenges in other industries as well, including my entrepreneurial ventures. The lessons learned from managing complex workflows, timelines, and stakeholder expectations continue to influence my approach to efficiency, planning, and collaboration.
